We want our volunteers to enjoy working with the BCO and there are many endless ways to be involved! Below are some examples, however, if you have a special project you’d like to tackle or a unique skill you could bring to the BCO, we’d love to hear about it! We are an all volunteer organization and count on our members to make our community great! The BCO Shop: Do you have a flair for shopping or have your finger on the pulse of what’s hip with your neighbors? Help us at the BCO Shop! Help organize, coordinate and deliver items purchased from the BCO shop. Block Captain: Help keep YOUR block involved in the BCO and the neighborhood. Help organize “Stoop N’ Strolls”, Block Clean-ups and serve as a point of contact for your block. Business Affairs: Do you “love your locals”? Get involved with our local Bucktown businesses and help build our business member experience. Communication: Are you a writer? A photographer? Help our BCO Newsletter and create content! Education: Are you an advocate of our neighborhood schools? Help coordinate outreach efforts between our neighborhood and our local schools and educate the neighborhood about school options. We’ll also need help during the Education Fair in October. Event Support: Are you known for your parties? Or just like to help put on events? Help the membership committee plan and execute fun and exciting events for our neighborhood. No experience necessary! Help to make our neighborhood loyalty program; Goat Gets, top notch! Hospitality: Has anyone ever called you “the host with the most?” Help turn on that charm for newcomers and visitors to Bucktown! Marketing/PR: You’re a marketing wiz? A PR Maven? GREAT! We’d love your expertise on our marketing committee. Membership: Love being a BCO member? Want to help others love it too? Volunteer for the membership committee! We help in everything from events to community engagement with an eye for engaging new BCO members! We need people to contribute to all aspects of the membership experience. Movies in the Park: Spend an evening with your neighbors and help coordinate Movies In the Park! We have all sorts of needs for volunteers. Volunteer to make Earth day, Every day and make our neighborhood beautiful! Programming: Do you want to be involved with what sorts of programs and outreach opportunities are avalible? Help us with programming. Safety: An engaged neighborhood is a safe neighborhood. Help organize Neighborhood Watch Walks, Positive Loiters and teach your neighbors about how they can help make Bucktown a safer place. Social Media Outreach: You’ve got #hashtaggame? Clever with content? We’d love to have your help with our social media accounts. Keep your neighbors in the know about the BCO. THRIVE: THRIVE works to help neighbors in need with assistance so they are able to thrive. If you have a background in social service or a passion for helping others, consider joining THRIVE. Web/Graphic Design: Help us update, improve and maintain this site! Coordinate with others for content creation and review. Or, if you’re savvy around photoshop and illustrator, consider lending your talents to BCO materials. Zoning & Planning: Get involved in the future of Bucktown. Join zoning and planning to be on the forefront of what sort of zoning laws are being challenged in the neighborhood and helping advise the community about those implications. Have another idea?
