Here are some current opportunities – check back for more ideas or send us ideas that you’d like to get happening in Bucktown. We are an all volunteer organization and count on our board and others to take action.
We are seeking additional board members for the 2012 Bucktown Community Organization Board – this is a working board, we meet monthly, generally on the second Tuesday of the month. If you, or someone you know, might be interested please contact Eva@bucktown.org
through January 20, 2012 – volunteers needed to locate Christmas Trees in alleys, provide those locations to other volunteers and/or participate in the tree collection and delivery to the Humbolt Park tree recycling location. Contact bucktown@bucktown.org today.
Communication Committee:
Newsletter - The BCO uses Constant Contact for our newsletter. It’s an easy to use tool and we need someone to help us get the news out to our members and neighbors. If you have experisnce with this product that’s great, or a willingness to learn and time to pull some information together that would work. Requires coordination with others for database maintenance and content creation, review and approvals.
Website - Current photos are needed for the site. We’ll take any submissions for consideration as examples of what we, the residents of Bucktown, are doing and loving in our neighborhood. We also need a person or two to regularly update the site. Requires coordination with others for content creation, review and approvals.
Membership Committee:
Database - The BCO needs a person to update our current database and to keep our membership notified of their renewals. If you have database, or excel skills and a few hours every month please let us know. Requires some coordination with website, newsletter and finance committees.
Membership Appreciation Events - Semi annual events to be defined, planned and executed to encourage new membership and to show additional apprecitation for existing members. Requires creative social skills and coordination with Board.
Events Committee:
Movies in the Park - Movie buffs are needed to assist in the selection of our sponsored movies at Churchill Park this summer.
Holiday Party - Volunteers needed to plan this annual event. Additional people needed to work on the silent auction committee.
Annual Tree and GardenWalk Commitee:
Volunteers are needed to identify Trees and Gardens for inclusion in the Walk. Also for working with our local businesses for advertising in the Walk Tour Book.
Graphics Persons are needed for poster creation and for layout of the GuideBook.
Many volunteers are needed for tasks on the walk weekend.
BCO Booth Staff Volunteers:
We have several chances to meet the neighbors at events including the Bucktown ArtsFest and Wicker Park Fest. If you are interested in staffing the booth and talking about our great neighborhood, let us know.
