It’s that time of year to start recruiting gardens for our neighborhoods biggest and most fun event of the year!  We need volunteers to help us recruit diverse and beautiful gardens for the weekend. It’s a fun and easy volunteer job that makes a huge impact. All you have to do is stop by, pick up a stack of postcards and post it notes and sign up to walk around your block to distribute the postcards and let neighbors know about the event and encourage them to register their garden. RSVP HERE.

To Sign up to work the weekend of the walk, please visit our online schedule and choose your shift! Opportunities are available all weekend.

Please Register Your Garden To Be Part of the Garden Walk!

The heart of the event revolves around connecting neighbors and giving nature lovers a glimpse into urban gardening techniques. Over 90 gardens will be in bloom and on display, offering attendees a unique way to see urban gardens, patios and rooftops that would otherwise be hidden from public view. You can also find inspiration for parkway plantings, urban farms and even some city chickens. We welcome all gardens and all sizes, sunny, shady, ornamental, edible and everything in between. Please sign up to support our neighborhood’s largest event and fundraiser.

More about why the Bucktown Garden Walk and Block Party Matters to Our Community…

The event began in 2002, took a brief two-year hiatus, returned in 2008 due to popular demand and has been flourishing every year since. The Bucktown Garden Walk & Block Party is a volunteer-run event and all proceeds are directly reinvested back into the Bucktown community, local parks and schools, neighborhood beautification projects, and to other BCO grant recipients. Money raised in the last few years has supported various initiatives including a forthcoming mural that will be liven up the northeast alley-facing side of the Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch of the Chicago Public Library.
